Welcome to Emily Rose Spa!
As much as we all adore having our treatments carried out in a professional salon or spa, we inevitably find our time compromised by career or family commitments.
If you’re anything like me, I constantly feel like I’m rushing to get to my next meeting or appointment and never feel that I have the luxury of time to spend on myself, although inside I believe that I richly deserve it!
Instead of peering longingly into beauty salons as I pass them in my car, seeing their clients being pampered in just the way that I would like, why shouldn’t I be able to have my treatments when and where I want them, whether at my home, my office or even my hotel?
Emily Rose Spa provides professionally qualified beauty therapists to treat you wherever and whenever you need them. Our heritage of providing high-end beauty treatments in professional spas can now be enjoyed at a time and place that suits you.
Think of it.
No more rushing to make the appointment, no more wasted time travelling to and from the salon, no more struggling to find a parking space… just book your treatment on our App and relax while we take the strain and come to you.
And, no more streaky spray tans – hallelujah! Why is it that whenever I have a beautifully applied spray tan that requires me to avoid water for eight hours, the moment I step outside the salon, the great British weather greets me with a soaking, turning my lovely, once-consistent colour into camouflage paint??
Why not enjoy our fabulous treatments in the comfort of your own home, allowing you to rest or even fall asleep after your relaxing treatment, facial or massage.
Our mission statement is “Discover your New You”. You will feel fabulous, revitalized and relaxed. Feel like a new woman after any of our treatments.
So sit back, relax, check out our App and let us bring the ultimate spa experience to you… Enjoy

Tips to Achieve the Perfect Wax
All our professional therapists at Emily Rose Spa are highly trained and will make waxing as pain-free as possible.
A little tip to achieving the perfect wax, I know it sounds clichéd but by simply keeping your skin hydrated, by moisturizing and drinking plenty of water it will allow easier hair removal and will make your waxing experience much more enjoyable.
If your skin is dry and cracked the hair could snap rather than being properly removed from the root; also if your skin is really dehydrated your skin can sometimes absorb the wax –Yikes!
Another tip is to thoroughly exfoliate the skin; I know you’ve heard it all before! But use an exfoliator containing AHA’s (Alpha Hydroxy Acids). AHA’S work by dissolving the glue like lipids holding skin cells together and penetrate deeper into the skin to loosen these clingy bonds. My personal favorite is Priori Invigorating Face and Body Scrub.
So, why is waxing is so much better for my skin?
We all want celebrity-smooth, shiny skin, and this is their secret- they wax!
Waxing pulls the hair from the root rather than cutting it from the surface like a razor. This is better for your skin because the hairs will grow back smoother and finer.
To achieve the ideal result from your wax it is best to get your hairs growing into a routine and wax every 4-6 weeks. This way all of your hairs will grow through at the same time resulting in smooth hair-free skin. Always remember to gently exfoliate 24hours before a wax and twice a week throughout the month in-between wax treatments to ensure you don’t get those nasty ingrowing hairs.
Regular waxing will make your hairs become sparser and the growth rate of your hair will decrease. NB: Please don’t shave after your wax as your hairs will grow back stubbly and all your hard work in that last waxing session will be wasted.
After your waxing treatments you may find your skin feeling slightly sensitive as your hair follicles will still be open so please avoid the sun, sunbeds and any fake tan for at least 24hours as well as extreme heat, hot baths, sauna and steam rooms, excessive tight clothing, body lotions, make up and deodorant.
The Before and Aftercare of Lashes
For those of you who have never had eyelash extensions, they comprise of individual lashes made up of silk, mink or synthetic material that are individually attached to your own natural lashes. This treatment is intricate and time consuming it can take up to two hours for a full set – an opportunity for a great power nap!
If it is your first exposure to lash extensions or Lash Lift you will need a patch test atleast 24 hours before your treatment.
The incredible thing about lash extensions is that they guarantee thick, fluttery, perfectly-curled lashes and accomplish the look that mascara can never achieve.
With proper care your lash extentions should last about a month, without the need for any infill’s.
Tip: Avoid wearing waterproof mascara for a week before your lash lift or lash extension appointment as it leaves an invisible film on your lashes that will keep the lash extentions from fully adhering or your natural lashes properly lifting.
If you wear contact lenses please ensure you have a spare pair with you or your glasses, as your contact lenses must be removed for both lash extention and Lash Lift treatments.
Once your therapist has applied your eyelash extensions you will need to look after them to avoid them from falling out. However, it is perfectly normal for a few to shed during the first twenty-four hours whilst the adhesive is still setting, so this is nothing to worry about.
Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24/48hours
Avoid saunas, steam rooms and swimming for the first 48 hours
Avoid any oil on the face and around the eye area, as oil will take the lashes straight off, be especially careful with sun creams.
Avoid pulling or rubbing eyes
Avoid wearing any mascara
Avoid any tinting or perming treatments on eyes while the lashes are on
Avoid using eyelash curlers
Gently brush or comb through your lashes daily with the brush the therapist provides.
Please contact us if you want the lashes removed or if you discover any discomfort or irritations.
Lash Lift, aka LVL is a new updated treatment that has taken over from the old-fashioned lash perm. The lashes are glued onto a curved silicone pad to which the lifting and setting lotions are applied. The whole treatment takes about forty-five minutes to an hour.
Lash Lift is an amazing treatment for anyone, perfect for holidays if you don’t want to wear mascara or for general everyday wear. I have Lash Lift treatment regularly and absolutely love it as I’m fairly low maintenance and prefer the extra 10minutes in bed rather than faffing around with mascara in the mornings! I also love the fact that they are my own natural lashes.
NB: For the first 48 hours following your treatment it is essential to take extra care as your lashes are still adjusting to their new shape.
Avoid getting lashes wet for the first 24/48hours
Avoid saunas, steam rooms, swimming or washing your face with hot water for 48 hours
Avoid touching or rubbing eyes
Avoid any lash curlers
Avoid oil on the eyes; check your eye make up remover is oil free
Avoid waterproof mascara
Another thing to consider after having Lash extensions and Lash Lifting treatments is how you sleep. Try to avoid sleeping face down on the pillow to keep your lashes as perfect as possible. Your new lashes are very easily distorted when your face is against your pillow throughout the night. Always brush your lashes using a clean mascara wand especially after getting them wet to ensure they dry naturally in their natural shape.
Successful Tanning Tips
Baking in the sun for hours at at time or frying ourselves on a sunbed in order to get a decent tan aren’t seen as the healthiest option these days. However, most of us would still love to achieve a healthy glow without the exposure to the sun.
A high-end spray will give you a luxurious, even, all-over tan without the investment of your precious time and effort! Avoid the ‘orange’ look and the irritation of self- tans by booking an Emily Rose Spa professional to visit and treat you in your own home.
Inappropriate before and after care can really make the difference between achieving a golden glow or ending up with a streaky, blotchy mess, so here are a few tips to help you achieve and maintain your perfect tan.
BEFORE your spray tan:
1. Exfoliate your body two days prior to your tanning appointment. Making sure all waxing/shaving is completed 24 hours beforehand to avoid the undesirable ‘dark pore’ look.
2. If you can, shower and exfoliate eight hours prior to the appointment as this will allow your skin to settle, and avoid moisturisers, deodorants, and perfumes on the day of your tan.
3. Stop using any other tanning product seven days before treatment.
AFTER your spray tan:
1. Once your tan has been applied, wear dark, loose fitting clothes; don’t wear a bra or any jewellery and wear flip flops to avoid strap marks and lines.
2. Avoid exposure to water for eight hours while your tan is still developing.
3. Do not exercise or use sauna/ steam rooms during this time.
MAINTANING your tan:
1. Avoid shower gels that leave residue on the skin as this residue may degrade the life of your tan.
2. Avoid baths, instead warm showers and pat your body gently with your towel.
3. Moisturise everyday to help your tan last as long as possible with an oil free moisturiser, as oil can cause tan to break up.
4. On the third day of your tan exfoliate gently and evenly to ensure an even fade.
5. Exercising, sweating, swimming and sun creams will all deplete the life of your tan.
6. Using a roll on deodrant is much kinder to your tan then a spray deodrant.
The Secret to Perfect Nails
Our hands are exposed just as much as our faces and yet we often find ourselves neglecting them. I hate to break it to you, but your hands will also show signs of ageing and need looking after. If you compare your hands to someone 10 years older, or 10 years younger, you'll notice significant differences.
If you want gorgeous-looking healthy hands and nails it is important to keep up with regular manicure and pedicure treatments, especially in the winter months when the harsh weather and temperature conditions really dry out the skin and nails.
Treat yourself to a specialised hand, nail and foot cream, and don't forget about the just-as-important nail oils and strengtheners, nails are made of keratin and need to stay hydrated in order not to peel.
Some of my personal favourites are:
DECLEOR Creme Mains
I love this hand and nail cream, its instantly absorbed by the skin leaving your hands feeling hydrated and nourished without feeling sticky or greasy, thanks to the ultra-moisturising duo of shea butter and coconut oil. It comes in a small 50ml version which I keep in my handbag. The delicate floral scent is the icing on the cake and it prevents ageing, a must have!
SISLEY Global Anti-Age Hand Cream
My personal favourite, this luxurious hand cream has been designed to protect the hands and act against signs of ageing. Containing a formula designed to reduce the appearance of age spots, I tested it on my mum and there was a visible difference in just 4 weeks, amazing!
It also contains one of my favourite ingredients, shea butter, with a mix of sunflower oil, guava and carrot extract to mend cracked skin and soften dry cuticles. Transforms your skin in no time, and contains an SPF 10 - what more could you ask for.
Clarins Foot Beauty Treatment Cream
Banish your rough heels! My feet always feel silky smooth after using this. This lightweight foot balm ensures your feet will be as soft as your face, smoothing away rough soles and strengthening the nails with Myrrh. This foot cream contains Arnica extract, which helps to relieve swelling and fatigue -the best part is it won't cover your feet in a slippery film.
Dadi' Oil Nail Treatment
If you haven't already heard of Dadi' Oil you must of been living under a rock. This 95% organic nail treatment oil used by professionals is the best on the market, especially for weak brittle nails. Made up of 21 essential oils including Citrus, Vanilla, Lemon, Bergamont, Rosemary, Lemongrass and Lavender, all making it smell so beautiful. It should be used on the nails and cuticles every night, even whilst your gel manicure is on, it will still penetrate through without lifting the gels. With frequent use you will notice a different within a matter of weeks.
Nailtiques Forumla 2
By far the best nail strengthener I have ever worked with. I have seen such amazing transformations on my clients using this little gem, turning weak brittle nails into beautifully strong, long nails in a matter of weeks! If your nails are weak or peeling Nailtiques formula 2 is a must.
The 411 on Double Cleansing
It's no secret that we all strive to achieve perfectly flawless skin. I'm personally guilty of trying out various lotions and potions and all the latest facial gadgets, but have always religiously maintained one essential role in my skin care routine - double cleansing.
I have been been telling my clients (and myself) for years, that simply double cleansing your skin, morning and evening, will help you to achieve flawless skin.
So what is double cleansing?
Double cleansing is a two-step process to remove make up and the days build up of dirt, pollution and grime, and to achieve a satisfactory result from this process this requires the use of suitable products.
The First Cleanse
Your first cleanse is to remove your make up, and if you're not wearing any make up it's to remove the days dirt, pollution and grime from your face.
Ideally this is done with an oil-based facial cleanser. My personal favourites are:
ELEMIS Nourishing Omega Rich Cleansing Oil
Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm
Vitage Essential Cleansing Balm
Oil cleansers actually clean your skin better; they remove make up, dirt and grime more efficiently as the oil attaches itself to the dirt, and excess sebum and lifts itself off.
The Second Cleanse
Now that your make up and the days pollution is removed throughly, you can actually now cleanse your skin.
For this step you should use a cleanser that is better suited to your skin. For example, if you're concerned with ageing I would recommend a cleanser with more active ingredients, like Gentle Facial Cleanser by Priori (now known as Elizabeth Arden PRO) which contains Latic acid. Latic acid is great for all skin types as its a very gentle acid and really hydrates the skin.
For a young or combination skin, a cream cleanser might be better suited to you. Some of my favourites are:
Omorovicza Moor Cream Cleanser
Vitage Revitalising Daily Cleanse
Regentiv Gentle Cleanser
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish
Always make sure you really work the product into the skin by massaging it throughly into your skin for atleast a minute to ensure you get the most out of your products.
Beauty Tip: Leave your cleansers on for a few minutes whilst you brush your teeth, then rinse off.

Q. What's your current skincare regime?
A. I like to use a light and refreshing Cleanser in the AM. At the moment I'm loving This Works Light Time Cleanse & Glow. Then I'll go in with an acid (my favourite step!) this really sloughs away all dead skin cells and makes my skin look brighter immediately. I love the AHA + BHA peel by the ordinary, or Dr Dennis Gross Extra Strength Peel Pads. Next is a serum, I love Glossier's Super Bounce, Zelens Z Luminous or Estée Lauder ANR. Followed by an oil and moisturiser, then face mist. I've just discovered the Nordic brand Lumene and I adore their Glow Mist!
Q. What's been your most extravagant beauty splurge?
A. I didnt actually buy this but I was gifted a Creme De La Mer huuuuge pot with my name on the top - it's so heavy! I think it's worth like £650!
Q. Who is your biggest beauty inspiration?
A. Hmmm, that's so tough! I have lots. I love a natural beauty, I love looking at supermodels from the 90's. The look then was so understated and effortless. I love Miranda Kerr, Bambi Northwood, Maya Stepper...the list goes on!
Q. When and what was your last beauty treatment?
A. I recently visited FaceGym at Selfridges, it's an express and intensive workout for your favail muscles. It was so relaxing but also incredibly invigorating, I'd recommend everyone trying it once!
Q. Which three beauty/ make up items could you not live without?
A. Weleda Skin Food, Rimmel Instant Tan, Soap Brows.
Q. Favourite beauty trend at the moment?
A. Glowy, glossy skin, and of course full thick brows!
Q. What's the one make up or beauty trend you wish would be banished from the beauty world?
A. "Baking" the face, all that powder makes me weep!
Q. Beautiful, glowing skin is a trend at the moment - What are your top tips for getting a flawless face?
A. Start with looking after your skin. I lowered my sugar intake recently and I've noticed a huge difference in the clarity of my skin! Also invest in a good acid. This will make sure your skin is fresh and gleaming for whatever make up you choose to apply. My favourites are Dr Dennis Gross Peel Pads, Pixi Glow Peel Pads, The Ordinary AHA + BHA Peel and Glossier's solution.
Q. What's your ultimate beauty/make up tip to share with Emily Rose Spa clients & readers?
A. No foundation! When people ask me how I create the no make up, make up look I always tell them this. Foundation can look lovely, but if you go without and juse use concealer on certain areas and a BB/CC cream as an alternative I think this just makes the face look so much glowing and shows off your actual skin.
Q. What advice would you give to upcoming beauty bloggers?
A. Don't stress it. I can sense a lot of people who ask me this question are desperate for a quick following. Just blog about what YOU enjoy, what comes naturally to you. Stick smith your colour palette, consider your aesthetic as a whole and make sure to tag relevant brands in your images. Interact with people, don't ignore comments. Be a real person, not just a blogger.

Our Top 3 SPF Recommendations
To prevent premature ageing and sun damage, a decent sunscreen should be worn on our faces all year round. I use a factor 50 on my face everyday, yes, even in the winter! Don't let the temperatures outside fool you, UV rays will still penetrate the skin even when it's cloudy and cold outside. If you were to ask any skincare expert what the top most anti-ageing product is, they will tell you that one of the best routes to having younger- looking skin for longer is to wear SPF daily.
With so much variation, choosing your suncreams can be a slightly daunting task and with this gorgeous heatwave looking like it's here to stay, I've decided to share my knowledge on choosing your suncreams adequately and the difference between UVA and UVB rays.
Firstly, there are two types of rays emitted by the sun; these are called UVA and UVB rays. What you are looking for in your sunscreens is both UVA and UVB protection.
What are UVA rays?
UVA rays are the longer form of ray, which penetrate the skin far deeper than UVB rays. These are responsible for immediate tanning, wrinkles, ageing, DNA damage and can too cause skin cancer.
Whats are UVB rays?
UVB radiation is the medium wave emitted by the sun that penetrates the superficial skin layers. These rays cause delayed tanning, sun burn, they damage the skins superficial epidermal layers and can too cause skin cancer.
Everyone automatically checks the factor protection against UVB rays, which is governed by the SPF or factor found on the front of the bottle. However protection against UVA rays has its own rating system that is found on the back of sun cream bottles, and how often do you turn the bottle over and study the UVA star rating?
The UVA star rating ranges from nought to five and indicates the percentage of UVA radiation absorbed by the sunscreen in comparison to UVB.
That's why it's important to choose a high SPF as well as a high UVA protection (e.g. a high number of stars). Sunscreens that offer both UVA and UVB protection are some times called 'broad spectrum'. A sunscreen with an SPF of 30 and a UVA rating of 4 or 5 stars is generally considered as a good standard of sun protection in addition to shade and appropriate clothing.
Some of my favourite face suncreams are:
Elizabeth Arden PRO Triple Action Protector SPF 50
A DNA enzyme complex antioxidant sunscreen that protects the skin against both UVA and UVB rays, as well as environmental aggressors and premature ageing. I absolutely love the universal sheer tint that adapts to all skin tones and lightly disguises skin imperfections.
Sisley Super Soin Solaire Facial Sun Care SPF 30
A luxurious broad spectrum SPF 30, that contains Vitamin E to fight free radicals, camellia oil to restore, and is super hydrating thanks to the nourishing shea butter!
Skin Ceuticals Mineral Radiance UV Defense SPF 50
Provides a high broad spectrum UV protection, Skin Ceuticals Mineral Radiance UV defence is a lightweight SPF 50 formula which also offers a semi-sheer tint.
